UTC Fire & Security Supports Middle East Customers and Partners with Technology Training

Bahrain, 20 September 2011 - UTC Bahrain S.P.C. today inaugurated a Training Center in Bahrain that will provide world-class professional skills and high-value fire and security product training for employees, business partners, end users and consultants in the region. UTC Bahrain S.P.C. is a part of UTC Fire & Security, a business unit of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX).
 
 “There is an expanding need in the Middle East for technically trained professionals who are able to handle residential, commercial and industrial security applications. Our state-of-the-art training center will help to facilitate in developing these skills for Bahrainis and other professionals in the region,” said Otto de Bont, president of UTC Fire & Security’s Global Security Products’ Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
 
The facility occupies approximately 6,000 square feet and is equipped with two professional classrooms and a demonstration room. Leading technical training will be offered in business management and fire and security jobs, including fire detection, access control, video surveillance and integrated security systems. The Training Center is supported by Tamkeen, an independent authority that works to promote the overall development of Bahrain, and the Economic Development Board. 
 
 “One of the fundamental pillars of Bahrain’s economic development initiatives is investment in human capital,” said Shaikh Mohammed bin Essa Al-Khalifa, Chief Executive of the Bahrain Economic Development Board. “The establishment of centers such as this one will support specialist training for Bahrainis and attract trainees from across the region.”
 
Dr. Nasser Ali Qaedi, Tamkeen’s Head of Planning and Business Development, commented: “Tamkeen’s partnership with global companies including UTC Fire & Security are a critical element of our overall efforts to develop the training environment and assist companies operating in Bahrain. Establishing the training center continues UTC Fire & Security’s commitment to customers in the Middle East. Bahrain serves as a hub for the security products business in the region, localizing the customer service, sales, technical support and logistics functions. In 2009 the company opened a Pro Express shop in Bahrain to offer customers convenience and easy access to a range of security products in a business-to-business service center.
