Supporting community

At UTC Fire & Security, we believe successful businesses improve the human condition. One way we demonstrate this is by investing in our communities through charitable giving programs. In 2009, UTC contributed more than $18 million in cash and product donations.  At UTC Fire & Security, our charitable giving is focused on organizations that help promote a safer, healthier, and more secure environment.

Our Kidde Residential & Commercial business sponsors Operation Save A Life, a public service campaign to increase awareness of fire and carbon monoxide safety.  Since 2002, Kidde has donated more than 700,000 smoke alarms to fire departments for distribution to families in need as part of this program.

The Chubb Fire business in the UK is the sponsor of the Fire Safety Badge for the Scouts Association. Chubb provides educational materials and sponsors fire safety training for scouts.  Chubb employees volunteer together with the local fire brigades to support fire safety demonstrations for the students. More than 60,000 Scouts across the UK have earned the Chubb Fire Safety badge – it is the most popular badge in this scout association.

Children in Mexico who are burn survivors are helped through funds and employee time donated by Kidde de Mexico to the Michou y Mau foundation. In South Africa, the Chubb business offers reduced-rate monitoring services to help keep schools and churches safe. In France, Chubb Sécurité sponsors the local Special Olympics.
