Angus Fire Selected as Exclusive Foam Provider

OXFORDSHIRE, U.K., November 16, 2006 – Angus Fire announced today that it has won a major contract to supply SembCorp Utilities with its environmentally friendly Tridol ATF 1x3 firefighting foam.  Angus Fire is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Based on Teesside in the north of England, SembCorp provides emergency response services to chemical plants and refineries throughout Europe.  With access to the largest industrial foam stocks in the UK, SembCorp responds quickly and effectively to fires involving a range of flammable liquids. 

“This new partnership gives SembCorp access to the latest foam technology and strong technical support. The logistics expertise of the Angus emergency service, which proved so effective at Buncefield, will also help us to source additional foam stocks when we need them urgently,” said Greg Richardson, SembCorp’s protection technical manager.

Previously, SembCorp used another provider’s foam product, since taken off the market, which had considerable post-fire cleanup costs due to an environmentally harmful ingredient called PFOS.  Angus Fire’s Tridol ATF is a new generation PFOS-free foam that provides high firefighting performance and is suitable for use on a range of flammable liquid spills and fires.
 
“SembCorp is leading the way for emergency response organisations that still stock PFOS-based foam. By acting in advance of possible changes in environmental legislation that may prohibit its use at emergencies, they are positioning themselves well for the future,” said Martin Hough, sales manager for Angus Fire.

The new foam will be supplied by J&RA Hawkes & Sons, Angus Fire’s authorised distributor in the north of England.  Hawkes is also collecting the old stock and arranging for it to be disposed of by the required method of high temperature incineration.  Hawkes will also regularly test the new foam stocks to ensure they remain uncontaminated and in good working condition.
