Forney to Demonstrate IDD 9000

ORLANDO, FL, Nov. 28, 2006 — Forney Corporation will be displaying its IDD 9000 flame detector amplifier in anticipation of its upcoming commercial release at its booth (#1619) during the PowerGen show this week.  Designed for installation in multi-fuel utility boilers, the IDD 9000 flame detector amplifier will enable customers to upgrade their systems to the latest National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code 85 requirements while providing better flame discrimination.  Forney is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

“NFPA 85 requirements and low NOx burner flame patterns has made flame detection and discrimination in multi-burner boilers significantly more challenging in recent years.  Forney’s IDD 9000 amplifiers meet those challenges by offering a full range of flame flicker frequencies, band pass filters and flame intensities from which to choose for optimal tuning capabilities.  The IDD 9000 amplifier is fully compatible with all existing Forney flame detectors so that users can enjoy the benefits of optimal flame detection and discrimination without wholesale system change-out,” said Merrill Jones, Product Line Manager Mechanical Products.

Headquartered in Carrollton, Texas, Forney Corp. manufactures front-end combustion components serving the electric utilities, chemical processing, pulp/paper and cement industries.
