Angus Fire Wins Prestigious Award

OXFORDSHIRE, U.K., December 6, 2006 – Angus Fire has won the prestigious “Special Achievement Award” for 2006 in recognition of the outstanding support it gave to fire crews at Buncefield by delivering urgently needed firefighting foam supplies. Angus Fire is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

The presentation was held at the Fire Awards 2006 Gala Dinner at The International Centre, Telford, in the UK. Hosted by Jeremy Vine, the well known BBC Radio Two presenter, the awards were held alongside FIRE 2006, the world renowned fire conference and exhibition.

Chief Fire Officer Roy Wilsher of Hertfordshire Fire & Rescue Service presented the award and commented, “The successful and relatively early resolution of this incident was due to a number of factors including the support of many fire services, oil industry firefighters and companies such as Angus Fire. The assistance given by Angus in terms of advice and bulk foam concentrate was invaluable, and I am pleased to make my appreciation public.”

Hertfordshire F&RS first contacted Angus Fire at 07.05 on Sunday 11 December 2005, shortly after the initial explosion. Within hours urgently needed foam concentrate supplies
were on the road to Buncefield. Over subsequent days an unprecedented 600,000 liters were supplied, mostly Angus FP70.

Alec Nightingale, managing director, Angus Fire, who along with Gary Godfrey, sales manager, accepted the award, commented, “This is for the unsung heroes in the foam plant, who work flat out 24 hours a day during incidents like this.”
