Kidde Wins Two Beijing Olympics Contracts

BEIJING, China, Dec. 13, 2006 —  Kidde Fenwal has been selected by Beijing Acorp M&E Engineering Co., Ltd. to supply Phoenix FM200 advanced fire protection delivery systems for two key buildings at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the new Digital Beijing Building and the Beijing TV Center.  Kidde Fenwal is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

“Kidde Fenwal's Phoenix FM200 advanced delivery system was selected because it enables increased installation limits and flow performance that dramatically outperforms any of the current FM200 systems in the market,” said Steven Huang, Managing Director of Beijing Acorp M&E Engineering Co., Ltd.

The new 98,000 square meter Digital Beijing Building will serve as the Beijing Olympics headquarters and data center. The building also will house a virtual museum of past Olympics and an exhibition center for digital manufacturers.  Located in the northern end of the Olympics Center, the Digital Building will neighbor the National Stadium and National Swimming Center.

The Beijing TV Center, 236 meters high and floor space totaling 36,100 square meters, will contain a multi-functional telecasting, recording and live transmission center as well as various other service and support facilities.  Kidde’s ADS FM-200 System will provide fire protection for critical power supplies, emergency control, computer and broadcasting centers.

Clean agent, gaseous fire suppression systems such as the FM200 are people-safe and designed to protect critical high-value assets from the effects of fire and collateral damage from extinguishing agents like water or powder.

Kidde is part of UTC Fire & Security, which provides fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers throughout the world. UTC Fire & Security, headquartered in Connecticut, USA, is a business unit of United Technologies Corp., which provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries worldwide.
