VEREX Selected to Protect Area Bank

FARMINGTON, Conn., January 12, 2007 — Verex Technology announced today its selection to provide an integrated security solution for Severn Savings Bank’s Annapolis, MD. branch.  Verex Technology is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Verex will provide its MONITORxL hardware and install an integrated access control and intrusion detection system to monitor the more than 100 access points within the six story facility and adjacent parking garage.

Verex’s Director software will be deployed to manage the different system components.  Director’s flexibility allows for ease of expansion, and its graphic user interface provides monitoring and system administration on one centralized display.

“This is a very complex installation given the size of the facility and the multiple entry points, but despite these challenges Verex’s software and equipment were able to exceed the customer’s requirements,” said Alan Bender, regional sales manager for Verex.

Bank Design and Equipment, one of Verex’s U.S. integrators, will install the system.  Severn began operating in 1946 as a neighborhood building and loan association in Baltimore, MD.  Today it has multiple branches throughout Maryland and provides a wide array of banking services.

VEREX Technology designs, produces and markets integrated security systems for small commercial to enterprise-wide applications around the world.  In business since 1981 and ISO 9002 registered since 1984, Verex operates at the leading edge of the electronic security business, providing customers with high quality, technically advanced solutions in more than 75 countries.  Verex is part of UTC Fire & Security, which provides fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers around the world.  Headquartered in Connecticut, UTC Fire & Security is a business unit of United Technologies Corp., which provides high technology products and services to the building and aerospace industries worldwide.  More information can be found at http://www.utcfireandsecurity.com.
