Chubb Sécurité Launches Plenitude 1230,
An Ozone-Safe Fire Protection System

PARIS, France, February 19, 2007 – Chubb Sécurité announced today the launch of Plenitude 1230, a new fire extinguishment system that combines 3M™ Novec™ 1230 Fire Protection Fluid – an environmentally safe, non-toxic material – with Chubb Sécurité’s delivery technology.  Chubb Sécurité is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. As the fire protection industry faces increasing environmental regulations, Chubb Sécurité has integrated Novec 1230 into its products because of the agent’s atmospheric life of only five days and its Ozone Depleting Potential (ODP) of zero, meaning it cannot harm the Earth’s protective ozone layer. The industry’s Global Warming Potential (GWP) rating for Novec 1230 is just 1: the same low rating as the carbon dioxide humans exhale with every breath.

At the forefront of environmentally responsible fire suppression systems, Chubb Sécurité has invested in Plenitude 1230 because it represent sustainable, long-term technology that meets not only today’s environmental standards, such as EC Regulations 2037/2000 and 842/2006, but also those of the foreseeable future.

Stored as a liquid but discharged as a gas, Novec 1230 takes up less room and is easier to install than other extinguishing agents. Propelled by nitrogen, Novec 1230 expands powerfully in volume at discharge, extinguishing fire in a matter of seconds.
