UTC Fire & Security Enters Joint Venture Agreement
with Beijing Leader Huaxin Electronics Co Ltd (Leader Huaxin)

SHANGHAI, China, June 12, 2006 – UTC Fire & Security announced that it has entered into a joint venture agreement with Beijing Leader Huaxin Electronics Co Ltd. (Leader Huaxin).  UTC Fire & Security is a United Technologies (New York Stock Exchange code: UTX) business unit.

Leader Huaxin, a leader in the China fire safety industry, has a strong presence in the Chinese fire detection market with a manufacturing facility in Beijing where it produces CCC-certified fire systems for the domestic market.

“To cooperate with a multinational company for mutual advantage is the most important decision that the management of Leader Huaxin has made in its 16-year history. The integration of resources will help the company to continue to grow and make new contributions to the fire detection industry in China,” said Mr Tu Yanping, President, Leader Huaxin.

UTC Fire & Security’s major brands – Chubb and Kidde have operated in China for many years. According to Paul Winnowski, president UTC Fire & Security Asia, this joint venture positions UTC Fire & Security well for further growth in the fire detection industry and allows the company to serve local customers more effectively.

UTC Fire & Security recently set up its Asian regional office in Shanghai.
