Fireye BurnerLogix Control System Chosen as
Standard Equipment by Industrial Combustion

DERRY, N.H., August 21, 2006 — Fireye Inc. announced today that Industrial Combustion (IC) of Monroe, Wis., will offer the new Fireye® BurnerLogix™ control system as standard equipment on all of its burners.  Fireye is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

Fireye's BurnerLogix control takes up 40 percent less space in the cabinet and has innovative new features such as Adaptive Infrared Amplifiers that sense the difference between the gas pilot and main oil flame, providing customers with new levels of safety.  The new BurnerLogix control also includes keypad programmable parameters, an advanced feature that also offers customer’s a lot of flexibility. 

The BurnerLogix System is a microprocessor based burner management control system designed to provide the proper burner sequencing, ignition and flame monitoring protection on automatically ignited oil, gas and combination fuel burners. In conjunction with limit and operating controls, it programs the burner/blower motor, ignition and fuel valves to provide for proper and safe burner operation. Through a system of informative indicators or “SMART LEDs,” the BurnerLogix control provides current operating status and lockout information in the event of a safety shutdown. Optional VFD and LCD displays are available that may be either plugged in or mounted remotely to give full language descriptors of current status and diagnostic lockout information.

Built-in algorithms allow the BurnerLogix IR system to identify the characteristics of the fuel being burned and internally set the thresholds to optimize detection under various conditions. More importantly, when conditions change for the worse, the Adaptive IR system assures a proper response and safely shuts down the burner.  Through the continuous internal checks of the AutoCheck system the burner is able to operate uninterrupted regardless of size.
