Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals Select Chubb Fire

LONDON, UK, August 21, 2006 — Chubb Fire announced today a contract to provide a range of fire safety solutions for Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, two of the country’s oldest and largest teaching hospitals.  The contract also includes the supply of fire fighting equipment for the Trust’s prestigious new £60 million Evelina Children’s Hospital.  Chubb Fire, a leading fire specialist provider in the UK, is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

The contract is for the supply and maintenance of 2,000 fire extinguishers, as well as other fire-fighting related products, such as fire blankets, fire point signage and emergency lighting signs across all of the Trust’s buildings.

Graham Richard, Estates Manager at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust said, “we have worked closely with Chubb Fire over a number of years and continue to do so. We take the risk of fire extremely seriously, especially in the environment in which we operate. It is imperative therefore that we have the right tools at our disposal – properly maintained and looked after – should they be required.”

The new Evelina Children's Hospital will be a landmark building at St Thomas' and London's first new children's hospital in 100 years.  It has taken six years to design and construct the seven-story glass-fronted building, featuring a four-story conservatory and dramatic views of both Lambeth Palace and Archbishop’s Park.

Chubb Fire provides fire safety products and services which help organizations to prevent, detect, contain and escape fire. Operating out of a national network of local branches in the UK, Chubb has more than 100 years’ experience in the fire and security industry with over 8000 employees in the UK.  Chubb is part of UTC Fire and Security, a $4.2 billion business providing fire safety and security solutions to more than one million customers worldwide and is headquartered in Connecticut, U.S.
