QUEBEC, Canada, May 2, 2007 - Desjardins General Insurance Group (DGIG), a leading direct property and casualty insurer in Canada, has awarded Chubb a multi-million-dollar five-year contract to install, service and monitor security systems for thousands of policyholders in Québec who subscribe to the Desjardins Teleprevention/Telewarn program. DGIG’s main offices are in Québec, Ontario and Alberta.  Chubb Canada is part of UTC Fire & Security, a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX). 

Under the agreement, Chubb will provide an exclusive package of system hardware, intrusion monitoring and fire detection to new DGIG loyalty program members in Québec.  As DGIG’s newly selected security provider, Chubb will also transfer existing customer systems to the Chubb monitoring station in Montreal. 

“Chubb’s national presence and long history of market leadership are a perfect fit and enhance the value offered to our customers in the home security program,” said Jean Vaillancourt, senior executive vice president and general manager, of Québec operations for DGIG.

As part of the partnership, Chubb will also offer customers the option of using VoIP communication technology as an alternative to a traditional digital phone line.

In addition to this contract, Chubb also supplies electronic security systems and service to over 900 credit union branches within the Desjardins Group.
