UTC Fire & Security Merges VEREX and Guardall


FARMINGTON, Conn., Sept. 15, 2008 — VEREX Technology based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, and Guardall Ltd. based in Edinburgh, Scotland, have announced their consolidation into a single company to be called Guardall. The two businesses are part of UTC Fire & Security’s Global Security Products Group and will maintain their locations in Canada and Scotland. UTC Fire & Security is a unit of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).

“By combining sales, marketing, engineering, supply chain and customer service functions, the new business will be better aligned and organized to support the combined global customer base, provide faster response and better products," said GSPG President, Duncan Gillis.

Phil Eldridge, Managing Director of Guardall will lead the consolidated business during the transition and will be based in Edinburgh.  Harry Ferguson, General Manager, VEREX, has elected to leave the company to pursue other interests. Tom O’Connell, who joined the company from Onity, which produces electronic locks for the hospitality lodging industry, has been named to Director Sales – Americas.

Guardall designs, produces and markets integrated security systems for small commercial to enterprise-wide applications around the world. Before consolidation, VEREX was a leading, global electronic security design and manufacturing company serving the professional markets.
